WHAT IS "LEAGUE AGE"? The term "League Age" is used by Little League® International to determine the age of your player for the upcoming spring season. Starting in the 2015 season, Little League® International has amended it's age determination. Click this link to read more about it on Little League's website. WHEN DOES THE SPRING (or "Regular") SEASON BEGIN? Practices usually begin mid-to-late March. Games can start as soon as early April. VRLL’s Opening Day Ceremony is typically mid-April. HOW LONG IS THE SPRING SEASON? Our regular season usually lasts for about (?-?) weeks beginning mid-late March and ending by mid June. WHERE ARE GAMES PLAYED? Home games are played at the Hook Community Center 14973 Joshua Street Victorville. Away locations depend on the division. Our older teams play other area leagues southern California, etc. Usually the longest distance is maybe an hour's drive away. Our youngest teams usually stay relatively closer to home. DOES VRLL OFFER OTHER SEASONS? Yes! We also offer a Fall Ball program. Registration for fall begins in mid-to-late summer and practices usually begin mid-to-late August. Fall games typically begin early September and run through the end of October. HOW IS REVENUE GENERATED? In addition to registration fees, VRLL requests sponsorships and donations from local businesses and private sources (such as team sponsorships, banners, opening day program ads, etc.) The VRLL Board of Directors also actively sponsors fundraising activities throughout the year making them critical to meeting our league's financial needs. HOW AM I NOTIFIED OF LEAGUE INFORMATION? General league information is provided on our website ( www.vrll.com ) and information / announcements are also posted on our league Facebook page. If anyone ever has any questions, they can contact a Team Manager or email us at ribbons@vrll.org. WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A MANAGER AND A COACH? The Manager of a team is ultimately responsible for the team. He/She will draft the players, organize practices, manage lineups, organize team volunteers, coach the team and be the primary contact between the league and the team/parents. A Coach typically helps coach the team and performs any duties assigned by the Manager. All Managers and Coaches can receive training from our league. IT IS MANDATORY THAT ALL COACHING MEMBERS COMPLETE AND SUBMIT A VOLUNTEER APPLICATION including your Social Security number, which are kept strictly confidential. For the safety of our children, this will allow us to conduct Little League mandated background checks. You cannot manage or coach without this submission. I'D LIKE TO HELP THE LEAGUE BY MANAGING A TEAM, BUT I'M NOT SURE IF I HAVE THE SKILLS. HOW CAN THE LEAGUE HELP ME MANAGE A TEAM? First of all, managing a team is probably easier than you think. We will be having a coaching clinic that will help you teach the skills. Additionally, if you'd like, we can connect you with experienced managers / coaches who can help you get started. Please don't let the fear of the unknown persuade you not to coach or manage. Little League is as much about having fun and teaching life skills as it is about teaching baseball and all of your skills and experiences are valuable. If you're worried about your schedule, most all coaches and managers sometimes miss a couple of games and/or practices. Each team usually has 2-3 coaches, so if one is missing on occasion, it shouldn't be a problem. Obviously, we'd like our managers and coaches there for most of the games and practices and they need to be reliable. But again, please don't let the fact that you'll miss a couple of games dissuade you from managing a team. I WOULD LIKE TO MANAGE A TEAM. HOW DO I SIGN UP? The Victorville Ribbons League President appoints Managers. Please contact our league ASAP if you would like to manage a team. We do not appoint Assistant Coaches to help you. You may connect with a coach ahead of time or request coaching help from your team after it's been drafted. All Coaching members are required to complete and submit a Volunteer Application, including their Social Security number. These applications are kept strictly confidential. You may email it back to our background check coordinator at ribbons@vrll.org. This will allow us to conduct the Little League mandated background checks for the safety of our children. You cannot manage or coach without this submission. I WOULD LIKE TO BE AN ASSISTANT COACH. HOW DO I SIGN UP? Assistant Coaches are appointed by the Team Manager. You may either connect with a Manager or wait until your child is assigned to a team and offer your services as a coach. All Coaching members are required to complete and submit a Volunteer Application, including their Social Security number. These applications are kept strictly confidential. You may email it back to our background check coordinator at ribbons@vrll.org. This will allow us to conduct the Little League mandated background checks for the safety of our children.
